What is Shojo Beat?
Shojo Beat was the latest anthology magazine published by VIZ, LLC. It was a monthly manga anthology that hits newstands around the middle of each month. It was like Shonen Jump, but focused on shōjo manga instead. It ran for a total of 49 issues, from July 2005 through July 2009. There continues to be a Shojo Beat line of graphic novels being produced by Viz Media, and it consists of shōjo and josei manga titles.

What is the Shojo Beat community about?
This is a place to talk about the Shojo Beat line and all of the series involved (i.e. rumors, news, speculations, translations, links, etc.)
    A few rules to remember:

  • Images: only one before a cut (how to do an LJ cut), and under 500 pixels wide/tall. Images behind the cut can be bigger, but include a warning for those on dial-up connections if there are a lot of (large) pictures in your post.

  • USE THE TAGS! See what tags the community has and when to use them here.

  • Spoilers ARE welcome, but any spoilers should be placed behind a lj-cut out of common courtesy for those who don't want to be spoiled. Include a warning that spoilers are behind the cut.

  • Fanfiction and fanart are allowed, and should be labeled as such. These should also go behind cuts, mostly because they tend to be large and also for the sake of people's friends pages.

  • If you are posting fandom, a rating would be handy. If it is of an adult nature, it is imperative that you label it as such.

  • No spamming, keep things on topic, and Shojo Beat-related. Information about a mangaka's other series and related stuff are okay, too, but don't go too far off-subject. Please try to limit posts selling personal items, as this is not a community specifically made to host such posts.

  • Raw scans of recently released chapters and script translations are allowed. Scanlated first chapters may be posted, but the entry MUST be friends-locked, and nothing beyond that first chapter is allowed. Please support the series' publication!

  • Most importantly, have fun!
